Dear Friends, The them e for our 2015 Pledge Campaign is “Walking the Way.” According to the Gospel of John, Jesus proclaimed himself to be "the Way, the Truth and the Life". The earliest Christians called themselves "People of the Way". Implicit in this is an understanding of following Christ and being on a spiritual journey. The practice of intentional giving, gratefully returning a portion of all that God has given us, is an essential part of walking the Way of Christ. It's a journey from scarcity to abundance, from greed to generosity, from thanklessness to gratitude, from fear to hope. Please take the time to read From Scarcity to Abundance. This profound reflection by Bishop Mark Beckwith offers a theologically grounded understanding of Christian stewardship. You are also invited to read the following reflections from The Episcopal Network of Stewardship, which will also be provided as bulletin inserts during the Sundays from October 5th to November 9th: |
