SHARING: Giving Generously & Loving Others
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we seek to be a community that embodies his call to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe that the concept of sharing encapsulates this calling. It begins, of course, with God's sharing God-self with us through creation, through the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, and through the gift of the Holy Spirit. All that we are and all that we have come from God. God is abundantly generous to us.
Experiencing God's abundant generosity, and having been created in the image of God, we best express our gratitude to God by being generous people. In other words, we were made for sharing; we were made to share our selves and our resources with each other and with the world around us. As members of Saint Matthew's and in gratitude for all that God has given us, we share our time, talent, and treasure, so as to support one another and the on-going life and ministry of our parish, and to share God's love with the wider world.
