Funerals at Saint Matthew's
"Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints"
The death of a loved one, regardless of the circumstances, can be a traumatic time in the lives of those left behind. While still grieving, families and loved ones are called on to make numerous decisions in a short period of time. Our Funeral Customary (link below) is designed to assist those who wish to have their loved ones buried out of Saint Matthew’s. For Saint Matthew's members and their affiliates, the Saint Matthew's Memorial Garden (link to brochure below) provides an area of beauty and dignity for the caring disposition of the cremated remains of loved ones and to memorialize those who have been buried at sea. You may click on the link below for a copy of our Funeral Customary. If you have any questions or need funeral planning assistance, please contact the Parish Office.
Pre-Planning Funeral Resources
When families call the church to tell us a loved one has died, more often than not we're guessing about what readings and hymns they would have liked to be part of their funeral services. Many times their wishes for burial are not documented in any way. To lift that burden from your loved ones and make the funeral-planning process as stress-free as possible, we invite you to complete a Funeral Planning Packet that we can keep on file at St. Matthew's. You can update it as much as you'd like over the years to come. You can print out the packet and write notes on it, or you could download the fillable PDF, save it, and send it to us. Scripture readings and hymns/music are available for you to read and reflect on.
Please contact the parish office with any questions.
